Special Education

Academic Instruction

Special needs students have the opportunity to receive academic instruction in language arts, math, social studies, and science through classes taught by an academic Instruction specialist. 
 
These classes replace the general education language arts, math, social studies, and science classes and are geared toward meeting the individualized needs of the student in each subject area. 
 
Students may take one or any combination of classes offered as determined by the IEP committee. 
 
A typical academic instruction class schedule consists of two periods of language arts, two periods of math, one period of social studies, one period of science, and one period of general education P.E. 
 

Academic Support

Special education students can receive academic support in language arts and math in from both a general education teacher and an academic support specialist. 
 

Community-Based Instruction

Special needs students have the opportunity to receive academic instruction in language arts, math, social studies, and science through classes taught by an academic Instruction specialist. 
 
These classes replace the general education language arts, math, social studies, and science classes and are geared toward meeting the individualized needs of the student in each subject area. 
 
Teachers also focus on helping students develop independence and self-reliance.
 
Students may take one or any combination of classes offered as determined by the IEP committee.
